These beautiful products are made from handmade papers which are created by village people in the African Republic of Zimbabwe and surrounding regions. The goal of this paper making project is to promote and support small-scale paper and craft production through community-based products spread throughout the region. This fledgling new industry has given hope to hundreds of people, mainly women and young families. They are trained to make paper and to craft products using indigenous and replenishable plant fiber and botanicals that grow wild and free around their homes.

Each sheet of paper is made from 100% cellulosic plant fiber and is tree free, lignin free, acid free, and pH balance neutral.

The women pick the wild plants that grow around their villages, gather fibers, spin twine, and make ornaments. The women of thse communities have become papermakers, bookbinders, and box makers. These new skills have made a huge difference in their lives, in these desperate times of AIDS and hunger due to the political situation.

The paper making projects create work opportunities and develop skills which assist women in achieving financial independence for themselves and their families.
